How Pé-de-Meia works
Pé-de-Meia is a federal savings program for low-income students enrolled in public high school, created by Law 14,818/2024 and regulated by Decree 11,901/2024. It pays four financial-educational incentives: Enrollment (R$200/year), Attendance (up to R$1,800/year, in up to 9 installments of R$200), Completion (R$1,000 per approved school year), and Enem (R$200, one-time, only for students in the 3rd year).
Eligibility requires enrollment in public high school (age 14 to 24, or 19 to 24 for the EJA adult-education modality), family registration in CadÚnico, and low income — Bolsa Família beneficiary families get priority in granting incentives, but they are not the only eligible families; a per-capita income up to half the minimum wage is a priority criterion, not a single eligibility cutoff. Single-person Bolsa Família households are excluded from Pé-de-Meia.

How much does a student get in total from Pé-de-Meia?
Completing all 3 years of high school with passing grades and taking the Enem exam in the 3rd year adds up to a total of R$9,200: R$600 in Enrollment (R$200 x 3 years) + R$5,400 in Attendance (R$1,800 x 3 years) + R$3,000 in Completion (R$1,000 x 3 years) + R$200 for Enem (one-time payment).
How to calculate the total value
- Add R$200 in Enrollment incentive for each year with a confirmed enrollment and a valid CPF (tax ID).
- Add up to R$1,800 in Attendance incentive per year (R$200 per month, up to 9 installments), conditional on at least 80% attendance.
- Add R$1,000 in Completion incentive for each school year completed with a passing grade — but this amount can only be withdrawn after obtaining the high school completion certificate.
- If the student is in (or has completed) the 3rd year, add R$200 in Enem incentive — a one-time payment that requires both Enem participation and the completion certificate.
- Repeat across each of the 3 high school years to reach the total through completion.
